What does this mean?

Basilar migraine is an older name for what is now called migraine with brainstem aura. Symptoms may include vertigo, double vision, slurred speech or poor coordination. This is a specific diagnosis, not a label for every migraine with dizziness.

You may find the older name in past medical notes or online searches. Connecting it with the current term makes it easier to understand what your clinician means.

How understanding developed

Understanding basilar migraine

The earlier name reflected a theory involving the basilar artery. Current classification prefers brainstem aura because involvement of that artery is considered unlikely.

What to notice

  • The current name is migraine with brainstem aura.
  • Vertigo alone does not establish this diagnosis.
  • New neurological symptoms need assessment.

Supplements that may help

Supplements may help support a regular migraine routine once your symptoms have been assessed. The options below are not specifically designed to treat brainstem aura or stop an attack.

Your questions, answered

Is this the same as vestibular migraine?

No. Both can involve vertigo, but their diagnostic patterns differ. A clinician considers the combination and timing of symptoms rather than dizziness alone.

2. What herbal ingredients are included in MigraSoothe products?

Herbal ingredients vary by product. MigraSoothe + Herbs and MigraSoothe Pro contain feverfew and ginger. The MigraSoothe Menstrual Migraine Booster contains sage, alfalfa, Panax ginseng, soya isoflavones, hops, kelp, rosemary leaf and flaxseed.

3. Are natural migraine treatment products all the same?

No. Natural products can differ substantially in ingredients, dose and intended purpose. MigraSoothe uses a modular range: core products provide a riboflavin-based foundation, while separate boosters offer magnesium, CoQ10, probiotics, alpha-lipoic acid, vitamin D3 with K2 or other targeted support.

4. Can vitamins and herbal migraine relief be combined?

Yes. MigraSoothe + Herbs combines riboflavin with feverfew and ginger, while MigraSoothe Pro also includes L-tryptophan, alpha-lipoic acid and B vitamins. Separate boosters allow magnesium, CoQ10, probiotics or other nutrients to be added without placing every ingredient in one capsule.
