L-tryptophan: a building block
Think of tryptophan as a raw material the body can use in its own workshop. One pathway turns it into serotonin, a messenger involved in mood and other functions; serotonin can also be used to make melatonin.

An evening nutritional routine
A serotonin building block, supporting nutrients and familiar botanicals, brought together in one capsule.
L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid found in everyday foods, including eggs, dairy, meat and plant proteins. The body uses it to make proteins and as a starting material in the pathway to serotonin. This complex pairs it with magnesium, B vitamins, lemon balm and chamomile.

The everyday explanation
Think of tryptophan as a raw material the body can use in its own workshop. One pathway turns it into serotonin, a messenger involved in mood and other functions; serotonin can also be used to make melatonin.
The complex includes magnesium bisglycinate. Magnesium contributes to normal nervous system and psychological function and helps reduce tiredness and fatigue.
B6 supports normal nervous system and psychological function. Its active form also helps enzymes involved in neurotransmitter production.
Niacin, or vitamin B3, contributes to normal energy metabolism and nervous system function. It helps round out the nutritional foundation of the complex.
Lemon balm has a long history in herbal routines for mild stress and sleep. That tradition helps explain its inclusion alongside the nutritional ingredients.
Many people recognise chamomile from an evening tea. Here it provides another botanical ingredient within a convenient, labelled capsule routine.
Tryptophan supplies starting material; it does not act as a switch that guarantees more serotonin or a particular feeling. Enzymes, other nutrients and the body’s regulation all influence what happens next. That is why we describe the pathway as a workshop rather than a happiness button.
Researchers have investigated tryptophan and sleep. A 2022 systematic review reported a signal for less wakefulness after falling asleep, especially at doses of at least 1 g. This complex contains 220 mg of L-tryptophan per capsule, alongside other ingredients; that research should not be presented as proof of the same effect from this particular formula.
Lemon balm’s recognised traditional use concerns mild stress and aiding sleep. Traditional use and biochemical roles explain the ingredients’ rationale without promising a treatment for insomnia, depression or migraine.
Chamomile has also been studied as a topical preparation for relief during a migraine attack. A 2018 crossover trial of chamomile oleogel reported improvements in pain and associated symptoms. This was a gel applied to the skin, not an oral capsule or a migraine-prevention study, so it cannot establish the same benefit from this complex. Lemon balm’s role here is its traditional evening use; it has not been established on its own as a migraine preventive.

Each capsule typically provides: niacin 16 mg (100% NRV), vitamin B6 5.6 mg (400% NRV), magnesium 57 mg (15.20% NRV) as magnesium bisglycinate 285 mg; L-tryptophan 220 mg; lemon balm extract equivalent to 500 mg; chamomile extract equivalent to 500 mg.
Ingredients: Magnesium Bisglycinate, L-Tryptophan, Capsule Shell: Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Lemon Balm Extract, Chamomile Extract, Nicotinamide (Niacin), Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6).
NRV means Nutrient Reference Value. Although rigorous precautions are taken to prevent cross-contamination, this product is manufactured in a facility that handles allergy-based materials.
Your questions, clear answers
L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid: the body needs it and obtains it from the diet. It helps build proteins and is a starting material in pathways including serotonin production.
Take one capsule daily with water, ideally one hour after your evening meal and at least one hour before bed, as directed on the bottle. Follow your current label.
Each capsule provides L-tryptophan 220 mg, magnesium 57 mg as magnesium bisglycinate 285 mg, niacin 16 mg and vitamin B6 5.6 mg. It also contains lemon balm and chamomile extracts, each equivalent to 500 mg of the herb.
It is a nutritional food supplement combining an amino acid, nutrients and botanicals. It is intended for a regular evening routine and does not replace assessment or treatment for persistent sleep difficulties.
These ingredients contribute different nutritional roles. Tryptophan is a building block; magnesium, niacin and B6 support normal nervous system function, and B6 participates in neurotransmitter pathways.
Pro already includes L-tryptophan and vitamin B6. Check the total ingredients with a pharmacist before combining them, rather than automatically adding both.
Check with your prescriber or pharmacist first. Tryptophan can interact with medicines that affect serotonin, including some antidepressants. Do not change prescribed treatment to take a supplement.
These botanicals are included for their place in an evening routine. A chamomile migraine study used a topical gel during an attack, not an oral capsule or prevention regimen. Lemon balm alone has not been established as a migraine preventive. The complex complements nutrition and does not replace migraine treatment.
For adults; the label advises against use by children or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Check with a practitioner if you take medication or are under medical supervision, especially with serotonin-affecting medicines. Do not exceed the label directions. Supplements complement a varied diet and healthy lifestyle.
